This from secretary Gay Gould---

Hello Everyone,
Our social club barbecue was held at the RSA on the 26th February.  21 members of the social club had put their names on the board to attend and it soon became evident that a quick trip to PaknSave would have to be made as at least 50 people turned up.  We all had a great time catching up with old friends and meeting new ones and I think we are in for another fantastic year.
Oamaru Trip:
At time of writing (21st March) about 27 members have put their name down on the bus list to go on this trip.  Unfortunately I won't be going due to work commitments, however I hope you all have a great day and that the weather is kind.

ANZAC Day Breakfast:
As usual the social club will lay on breakfast for all those who go to the Dawn Service and then come to the RSA around 7am.

Rugby Trips:
We have two rugby trips planned and two bus lists will be going up on the board for you to put your names on if interested.  As usual, the bus is free for social club members and we will purchase tickets for the games when they became available. Prices will be posted on the board as soon as we know.
The games are:
All Blacks v Ireland - Saturday 16th June, Rugby League Park,Christchurch
All Blacks v South Africa - Saturday 15th September, Forsyth Barr Stadium, Dunedin

Mid Winter Sing Along:
We usually have a Mid Winter Christmas Party but this year we have opted for a sing along instead with Noel Burns, Trevor Dawe and Tony Hyland.  This will be at the RSA from 2pm till 4pm and afternoon tea will be provided.  A gold coin donation for those who wish to come would be appreciated.

That's all for another month.  Hope you had a great day in Oamaru.
Gay.

Poppy Day

Poppy Fields This year, Poppy day will be held on Friday 20th April.  Thank you to all who helped with the Timaru collection last year and who have offered support this year. We hope the day will be warm but that can't be guaranteed. So take a warm coat. A special thanks to those members of the public who continue to contribute to this very worthwhile cause. Anzac Day

anzacThis year, Wednesday 25th of April will see another slice of history as we celebrate  and remember the many soldiers who gave their lives at Gallipoli. Once again, our RSA will host hundreds of people at the public service, hopefully on a fine day. As usual, many of our returned/service men and women will enjoy a warm and tasty breakfast at the RSA after the Dawn Service at the cenotaph. Now confirmed, this year's Citizen's Service will be held at the at the Soundshell on Caroline Bay, at the usual time of 10am.  For those folk who need a lift to the RSA following the service, busses will be on hand to deliver you to 21 Wai-iti Road. A brunch will be available from 11am right through the day, until required.  If the weather is inclement, the 10am service will be held in the Bay Hall. Everyone is invited to come to the RSA at anytime through the day. You are most welcome.
